About Me

Professionally, I wear several hats:

  • Functional Movement / Strength Coach

  • Personal trainer

  • Message Therapist & Bodyworker

  • Health and Wellness coach

Honestly, the lines blur between these roles...

But most importantly,

I'm a husband to my incredible wife Ella and a dad to three energetic boys aged 16, 12, and 9. Staying fit and strong is essential for keeping up with them!

With nearly 20 years of full-time coaching and training under my belt, my kids might think I'm old, but I like to think it means I’ve picked up a thing or two along the way.

Here's what I specialize in:

  • Helping busy people (especially those working from home) move, feel, and look

    better.

  • Teaching functional movement and strength training to folks who don’t know where to start.

  • Managing and overcoming common injuries, niggles, muscle tightness, and restrictions that interfere with fitness.

  • Coaching on building and breaking health and fitness habits.

  • Getting better results with less struggle, stress, and effort for regular, busy people.

For 14 years before the COVID pandemic, I ran one of St Kilda’s top personal training gyms, ‘The Fit Stop’ (www.thefitstop.com.au). During that time, I completed over 30,000 personal training and coaching sessions, helped hundreds of clients, and managed a team of trainers, coaches, and therapists.

A) Move well or reclaim their movement.

B) Overcome and manage common niggles, aches, and pains.

C) Build a strong fitness and strength foundation (often overlooked in many fitness programs).

D) Use this foundation to lose weight, add muscle, increase fitness, and achieve awesome, adventurous goals.

E) Change deeply ingrained health and fitness habits (often misunderstood by traditional approaches).

My training incorporates various modalities such as:

  • Strength & Conditioning (For the general population)

  • Functional Movement

  • Corrective Exercise and Rehab

  • Breath-Work and Mind- Body Connection

I’m particularly interested in neuroscience and psychology, especially in habit and behavior change, stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation.

I’m a lifelong learner with a passion for science and critical thinking. I also like to keep an open mind and think outside the box. The saying, "adopt what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is uniquely your own," really resonates with me.

My uniquehuman skill #1

After nearly 20 years of training & coaching people, scouring the earth for knowledge and being obsessed with constantly improving (& being a massive introverted over-thinker in my down time) I have developed a specific set of skills… I can take people’s health & fitness problems or goals, and help them to get clarity, connect the dots and make sense of it all.

A good coach can help you see things from a new perspective &help you identify the roadblocks or obstacles preventing you from getting where you want to go, whether it be physical or mental, or both.

I don’t believe anyone really has a motivation problem or a discipline problem, but rather a ‘thinking’ problem or a lack of clarity.

Most health & fitness problems can be better solved when we ask ourselves better questions, and we are truly honest with ourselves.

My unique (& weird) human skill # 2

Understanding human movement.

I am fascinated with how the body moves, and I genuinely love the challenge & satisfaction I get from helping people with their movement-based problems, whether it be learning the ‘skill’ of exercise & strength training, overcoming an injury, identifying the root cause of a niggle, ache or pain, or just getting stronger in a smart, safe and skilful way, so you can do more cool things with your life.

I have worked with many people who always felt like they weren’t quite doing things right in regard toexercise & strength training, people who can’t ever progress past a certain point, who are always stiff and on the verge of getting injured, or who thought their body wasbroken or just not ‘built for exercise’.

I tend to have a knack of identifying where these problems stem from when I see you move and exercise, and I can help you find a way to overcome, manage or work around them.

If you want to work with me.
